How To Stay Alive In Retirement
A lot of people dream about retirement, and it’s usually a good dream. However one of the worst things a man can be is idle. Idle in the sense of not having anything to do, and the last thing you want to be, is an idle old person whose main hobby is popping pills.

1. Pursue Health
- a wise man once said, if you could ask me to buy you any car
- But there was one catch
- You had to keep that car for the rest of your life
- You would probably work hard at taking care of that car
The same thing happens with your Body
- You only get one body for life
- And this body can only be maintained proactively
- And the best investment is not insurance to cure illness, but its preventative care
- And it uses insurance for the big things that may happen
Some great common advice
- try to get out every day and go for a walk
- Get enough rest
- Watch what you eat but also enjoy yourself
- Do some weight training, having muscle will help as you age
2. Pursue new friends, especially younger ones and be part of the community
- studies show that people with strong connections, tend to have more active lives, better eating habits and have healthier behaviors
- You don’t want to be that guy in the movies, that sits in his porch each day and just looks at people from his porch and has no friends
Here are some things you can do
- being a part of a local church
- Having group weekly activities you visit
- Get to know your neighbors, they are closer than your any other person on this earth to you
3. Simplifying Possessions
- getting old is also realizing that as you get older, you will want a more simple life
- The more complex things are the more time you will waste on them
- Plus you will not have the same level of energy
Here is an example
- I knew a man, that his house was the same one he had bought 30 years before
- His job was about 5-10 minute drive away from his house
- He worked with the people liked most
- And his job was exactly doing what he liked
I think that works best
4. Attend traditional investment, your house and having enough
- I know old people that the more they get, the more they want
- And I also know some, that they want less so they can have a more simple life
- Simplicity is key when it comes to wealth, it’s not about doing a lot of things, but just a few things
Here are 4 things that will help you retire, stay alive and not have to keep worrying
- get debt-free
- Save 3-6 months for emergencies and later after number 4 extend it to 12 months
- Invest consistently in simple things, I like VOO
- Pay off your home
5. In the end
- Doing things this way will help you a lot more
- Life is not about money
- It’s about Glorying God as a Christian
