Futacs: "We will fight for this club and our fans"

Manager Michael Appleton, and striker Marco Futacs give their post match reaction following last night's 1-0 defeat to Ipswich Town.

The Blues, who performed with an added zest in the second period following a difficult opening 45 minutes, had an equaliser ruled out on 72 minutes after Greg Halford's long-throw was controversially ruled not to have touched anyone on its way into the net.

Yet for all Pompey's efforts it was the Tractor Boys who largely controlled the game, hitting the woodwork twice through Damien Delaney and the impressive Lee Martin.

But Pompey striker Marko Futacs was quick to dismiss thoughts that perhaps the Blues were jaded from a gutsy weekend performance against Blackpool.

He said: "I don't think we were tired. They scored the first goal which was really bad for us and in the second half we tried to get back into the match and equalise.

"We played much better but it was not enough to score and not enough to give us the win.

"But we must stick together now and think about Barnsley at the weekend."

The loss saw Ipswich climb above Pompey, who will be keen to halt a run of form which has seen them lose four of their last six league games.

Futacs said: "We now we have to fight for our team and for our fans. They were brilliant against Blackpool and the same this evening.

"Now we have to stick together as a team in this situation and give something back to these amazing supporters."
