Ep7 Installing a washing machine on the boat - Sailing Someday

In this episode, we install a washing machine on the boat. We build a framework, install it and begin using it. We chose the Giantex washing machine as it was available via Amazon and it fit our size / space requirements. It doesn't dry, but it washes, spins, soaks and then we hang up the laundry outside on the life lines to dry it.

We have been using it now for a few months and have found it to be fairly water intensive. I estimate that it uses about 10 gallons of water per load. So I started using sea water for washing and then fresh for the rinse. Power wise it isn't too bad though. I think we will eventually explore a combo washer dryer unit in the hopes that it will use less water.
