How To Apply Eyeshadow Underneath Eyes

Spice up your make up routine by adding eyeshadow colors underneath your eyes.

You read that right, applying eyeshadow somewhere other than your top eyelid.

In order to begin, you will need the following tools: Eye-makeup remover, eye primer or concealer, your favorite eyeshadow palette, a similar colored eyeliner, eyeshadow-liner brush (slanted, structured, brush), and small eyeshadow-smudging brush (fluffier, round, brush).

If you’re looking for a bigger, bolder, and brighter look—use a fluffier-rounder brush.

Step 1

Always start with a clean base. Clean eyes with eye-makeup remover.
A clean base will provide long-lasting wear.

Step 2

Add eye primer or concealer to your eyelids to prep your eye before moving on to eyeliner.

• Primer: Apply primer to your eyelids and blend it with fingers/brush or sponge

• Concealer: Apply concealer to your eyelids and blend it with fingers/brush or sponge. Also, don’t forget to set the concealer with setting powder.

Step 3

Start with your colored eyeliner pencil.

Line your lower eyelid/waterline with colored eyeliner. You will need to hold your eyeliner applicator horizontally to provide a fluid line.

• Avoid holding the applicator vertically.
• If you don’t have the color you want in an eyeliner, use your structured-slanted brush to apply your favorite eyeshadow close to your bottom eyelid.

Step 4

Dab eyeshadow-liner brush into your favorite eyeshadow color and apply color under eyes near the colored-eyeliner line. Do this by tapping brush across the lower eyelid.

For a bolder and more dynamic look, apply one color to half of your eye and a different color to the other half. For example, blue on one half and purple on the other all under the same eye.

Step 5

Blend color(s) and eyeliner together by dabbing eyeshadow-smudging brush back and forth underneath bottom eyelashes.

• Don’t use your fingers to blend colors.

Optional Step:

For a bigger and more dramatic look, apply a thicker color line underneath bottom eyelashes and blend colors with an eyeshadow-smudging brush.
