The Sag Strike Protest Song

Zach Selwyn takes to the streets for the union.

LYRICS:

MY first job was back in 99
Auditioned and got 3 lines
On Chicago Hope playing a paramedic
It was a thrill to join screen actors Guild,
thinking of the big career id build
But 24 years later- my bank account’s pathetic

Sure I've had my share of commercials
Lost jobs squandered rehearsals
even booked great gigs from time to time
But when my bank account makes me cry
and I lose a job to AI
You'll understand why I'm on the picket line

once you're in the union you gotta stand strong
Im not sure if filming this here video is even wrong?
Grab yourself a placard take selfies sing this song
I got one cent residual checks in my mailbox all day long

Now around 2005 or so
along came the streamers
SAG signed a outdated deal
and called Netflix folks dreamers
But technology took over TV
yeah everybody's saying it
And me and my friends are at wits end
missing mortgage payments

And we all felt ire - when Bob Iger -
Said we're not being realistic
As he tans his two faces in sunny places
on his yacht in the South Pacific
Did ya hear he makes 27 mil a year -
man it's so obscene
And I'm posting 0 cent checks
with my Robert Carradine.

once you're in the union you gotta stand strong
Hey- Is filming this here video even considered wrong?
Grab yourself a placard take selfies sing this song
I got one cent residual checks in my mailbox all day long
