South African snipers have not been deployed in the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to the SANDF, which was explaining its mission in the DRC on Friday. Three South African soldiers were injured when rebels launched mortars and rocket attacks close to their base.
The soldiers are in the DRC as part of a UN-backed force aimed at neutralising M23 rebels.
