Royal car arrives bringing Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, VS of Guard of Honour made up from soldiers of 1st Battalion Cameronians Scottish Rifles. The royals are greeted by the Lord Lieutenant of West Lothian, Colonel Cadell. VS as the Queen inspects the Guard of Honour. VS of ceremony of opening the bridge. The Queen makes a speech about the bridge. She then signs the visitors book. MS as she meets some of the men who worked on the bridge. CU of the plaque marking the opening - 4th September 1964. VS as the Royal Car crosses the bridge. Travel shots from car. Aerial views of bridge. VS as the car arrives at the other side of the bridge (in Fife). The Queen sees the plaque on this side of the bridge. VS of the Royals making the last ferry journey across the Firth of Forth - it has been replaced by the toll bridge. VS of other boats on water.
