Learning Music Theory With -- [The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time]
Koji Kondo was my first and biggest inspiration on composing music ever since I was little. In this video I try to go in-depth on the compositional techniques that made Ocarina of Time's soundtrack a classic and how others' compositions including mine have been influenced. Techniques covered here include "V7 resolves to I", [IV V I] & [ii V I], longer chains of 5ths like [vi ii V I] and [iii vi ii V I], and key modulation.
Stay tuned for Part 2, in which we'll get a bit more advanced.

Here are a couple things I excluded in order to try and monetize, but are still fun to check out.
For level 4.5, I couldn't find more examples that ended on IV/IV, but here are some that at least end on a IV with the characteristic Lydian extensions.
Ryuichi Sakamoto - Rain

And shout out to this guy, both for exhaustively compiling all the music from OOT, and for making (?) this troll Flintstones version of Kakariko Village
