Coronavirus: What will life look like after lockdown?

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced us to change our routines, lifestyles and habits - and many will be desperate for life to go back to pre-coronavirus days.

But until a vaccine becomes widely available, society will undergo a radical transformation.

"There's increasing pressure to reopen the economy and get people back to work and out of isolation," said Professor William Sutherland of the University of Cambridge's Department of Zoology.

"If we return to operating as we did before the pandemic, there will be a second wave of the virus. All activities will need to be considered individually and phased back in carefully, depending on the risk they pose to spreading the virus."

While regular hand washing, covered coughing and contactless greetings are already becoming common practice, here are some more fundamental changes that could be introduced when lockdown is over.
