How to Paint a Cardinal Bird & Tips on Painting the Color Red in Watercolors

Have you ever tried to paint with red watercolor paint? If you have, and are like me, then you got frustsrated! I've learned a few things (from many, many past mistakes) on how best to paint with red, and I share what I have learned here in this video.

The most important material I use when painting is the paper I paint on. I paint on 300 lb Arches Hot Press watercolor paper. All the paints I use are Winsor & Newton watercolors. Here are the colors I used to paint this cardinal:

Alizarin Crimson
Indigo
Lemon Yellow
Cadmium Red Light
Payne's Grey
Lamp Black
Sepia
