Spencer Dinwiddie - Savvy Scorer/Separation 18/19

Spencer Dinwiddie, the former Colorado Buffalo, is a BUCKET. The 2018 Skills Challenge Champion likely deserved the Most Improved Player award last year. No disrespect to Victor Oladipo or Clint Capela (who finished 1 and 2 in MIP voting respectively), but at one point, Dinwiddie was in the D-League, and last year, he and Kenny Atkinson made the Nets (reasonably) competitive…but the past is the past, and in 2019, the Brooklyn Nets completed a 14 game improvement on the last season, and alongside D’Angelo Russell’s emergence as an all-star, Caris LaVert’s very promising future (despite the injury), and Jarrett Allen’s giant potential, the Nets won their first playoff game since the likes of Joe Johnson, Deron Williams, and Brook Lopez lingered in the halls of the Barclays Center.

What is there to say about Spencer Dinwiddie? He dances on defenders, the way he pulls up is impolite at best, and disrespectful at worst. He makes shots simply by muscling them up sometimes, but mostly, it’s a finish with finesse. His jumper is just silky smooth, and he’s really REALLY got some range. He’s cold blooded in the clutch, and never seems interested in laying down DESPITE the odds (see that comeback in Houston for reference). Spence darts and dashes around the defense, and there’s not a whole lot you can do.
