Sailing to Barbuda 3 months after Hurricane Irma

In this episode we charter a 2012 Dufour 405 L from Dream Yacht Charters and take our first open water passage between Antigua and Barbuda. We wanted to go somewhere isolated that felt like a deserted island. Barbuda had been devastated by Hurricane Irma in September 2017. Only 100 of the 1700 residents have returned. It was an eerie juxtaposition of beauty and destruction at Cocoa Point Lodge where we anchored for two nights.

Coordinates below, but of course all of this information is easily accessible on your electronic navigation devices as well as Google Earth! :-)

West Bay, Green Island Antigua
17 deg 04.1' N
61 deg 39.1' W

Cocoa Point (Princess Diana Beach)
17 deg 33.0'
61 deg 46.9' W

Total distance was around 31 nm

Check out our upcoming video of our passage back to Antigua from Barbuda where winds were increasing to near gale and swells were getting more intense, and storm clouds were all around us.
