When 1 Man Held Off 6 Tanks
Audie Murphy was awarded the Medal of Honor for his action in January 1945, near Holtzwihr, France. When his company was forced to retreat Murphy remained behind directing artillery fire on the enemy infantry and armor. While not physically large Murphy at just 5 feet 5 inches (1.65m) and 110 lb (50kg) managed to single-handedly turn back the Germans and was awarded the medal of honor for his "Conspicuous Gallantry and Intrepidity Involving Risk of Life Above and Beyond the Call of Duty In Action With the Enemy".
