It's happened! After more than a week of being stacked together and encountering setbacks in two Wet Dress Rehearsal attempts, Starship S28 was de-stacked from Booster B10.
Why did this occur, and what happens next? On February 8 and 10, Booster B10 and Ship 28 were respectively rolled to the Launch Pad. Following this, the full-stack process took place on February 11 in preparation for the crucial final test: Wet Dress Rehearsal. This marked the first full-stack of the two stages intended for the upcoming Starship Flight 3, occurring 85 days after Flight 2.
Following the full-stack process, SpaceX promptly initiated Wet Dress Rehearsal tests. However, despite two attempts on February 14 and 16, these tests were unable to be completed successfully. In both instances, the fuel loading process on Starship and Super Heavy occurred, accompanied by robust venting processes from the prototype, launch tower, and tank farm. Frost lines even became visible at both stages during testing. Unfortunately, both tests were aborted relatively quickly, and the primary cause remains undisclosed.
