Public Safety Update: Bellflower Sees Significant Progress in 2026

The City of Bellflower is seeing strong, positive results in public safety for 2026 as City Council priorities outlined in the Strategic Plan continue to deliver measurable results through strategic investments in public safety.  
The City has experienced a 25% reduction in Part I crimes, which include the most serious offenses against people and property. This downward trend outpaces several neighboring communities, as Artesia has seen a 16% drop and Paramount has seen a 14% decrease.
As part of the City’s continued focus on enhancing public safety and improving quality of life, the City Council prioritized investments in technology, enforcement and proactive safety strategies.  Recent safety enhancements include the deployment of advanced gunshot detection technology to improve response times and the installation of license plate reading cameras to identify stolen vehicles and suspects.
