I've spoken about the next economic crisis likely being another Great Depression similar to that in the US around 1930. However, back then many people in the US were self-sufficient and engaged in farming. But these days hardly anyone in the US is self-sufficient which can make this much worse than the Great Depression.

I believe the Great Recession we experience around 2008 is just the beginning of what is coming. If you listen to this 2008 interview with former Congressman Paul Kanjorski, he lets you know clearly how quickly they can collapse the economy.

Kanjorski states that on Sept 11, 2008 at approximately 11 am there was an electronic run on the banks where suddenly people began withdrawing their money from money market accounts. Within one hour they had withdrew $550 billion. It was estimated that had they not stopped the transfers and increased the FDIC limit to $250,000 then within three hours depositors would have withdrawn $5.5 trillion out of money market accounts effectively collapsing the entire US economy. He says that within 24 hours the world economy would have also collapsed.
