Fists Fly in Armenian Parliament: MP Ambushed Amid Explosive Coup Accusations

Armenian Parliament Fight: A tense session in Armenia’s parliament turned violent on Tuesday as opposition MP Artur Sargsyan, accused of plotting a coup, was attacked while attempting to leave the chamber. Sargsyan, who denies the charges, had just delivered a fiery speech criticizing Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s government. Lawmakers from the ruling Civil Contract party allegedly assaulted him, escalating tensions. The session was focused on stripping Sargsyan of parliamentary immunity. The parliament later voted to revoke immunity for two other opposition figures. Deputy Speaker Ruben Rubinyan called a recess amid the chaos and rising political unrest.
