Separation of insoluble Substances from Water - Our Basic Needs (CBSE Grade 5 Environmental Science)
An insoluble substance is a substance (solid) that will not dissolve in a solvent even after mixing (eg; sand and water). When the heavier component in a mixture settles after water is added to it, the process is called sedimentation. When the water (along with the dust) is removed, the process is called decantation .
