White House official explains Houston's $500 million World Cup grant

Houston received $500 million in federal funding for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. But what is that money being used for?

The White House’s security task force gave Houston half a billion dollars in a counterterrorism measure, in which Houston police received a crash course in anti-drone technology.

Houston police have already dispatched 60 drones in the first nine days of the World Cup. Is the federal government’s gift money well spent?
