'Set Free' co author urges youth to stand firm in Gospel truth against worldly pressures

At a time when U.S. culture is bombarding young Americans with confusion, false identities, and moral chaos, a new book is pointing students back to real, lasting freedom in Christ.
Mark Hopson, who is the CEO of Decision Point, which is a nationwide movement helping students spark revival on public school campuses, said he was shocked to learn how many teenagers never heard some of the most well-known Gospel verses. He said those who were familiar with the Gospel didn’t seem to be evangelizing.
"We found that God has young people who are praying big prayers for their schools and for this country and all around our nation, but nobody was really training them to be bold, courageous witnesses to go share the Gospel with their entire campus,” he said during an interview with The National News Desk’s Jan Jeffcoat on Wednesday. “So, we felt pretty compelled to do something about that.”
Hopson is also the co-author of the book “Set Free,” which helps believers stand firm in Biblical truth even though everything around them tells them to compromise. He said conviction and courage are crucial here.
“You’ve got to believe that God’s word is true, and so you have to help your young people -- your teenagers, your kids at home (and) kids in your church – you’ve got to help them believe it. You’ve got to know what the Bible teaches, believe that it’s true, (and) not be embarrassed by it. Believe that God’s story is a better story than the lies and the stories that this world is telling them. So, they’ve got to have that conviction, but they’ve got to actually do something about it," Hopson said.
