Easy Chicken Shawarma Recipe

If you're not familiar with what #Shawarma is, it's basically like a gyro or a wrap eaten all across the Middle East. It's a flatbread or pita filled with chicken or lamb, salad, hummus, sometimes fries, and other items you can select to make it your own Shawarma. Mine is so easy to make at home, and soooo satisfying! This is another great summer recipe, if you want to cook the shawarma chicken on the grill. Bon Appetit!

Ingredients List for your convenience:
2 lbs. Chicken breast, or boneless skinless thighs
1/3 cup yogurt
Juice from one whole lemon
Olive oil, 2 tbsp. for marinade. Plus more for cooking.
1 small onion, thinly sliced

Shawarma spice blend:
1.5 tsp cumin powder
2 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp cinnamon powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp parsley (fresh or dried)
1 tsp red chili flakes
Black pepper to taste
Salt to taste
5 Garlic Cloves, finely chopped
