Priscilla on Elvis’ death: ‘Devastating, I just stayed in my room'
Pricilla Presley says getting the call that her ex-husband Elvis Presley had died was “absolutely devastating”.
“I had just talked to him the night before, no two nights before, and to get that call, Joe Esposito actually called me and said, ‘Cilla, um, Elvis is dead,” she told Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan.
“He was really emotional, and I just yelled, you know I thought he was kidding, you know you just never imagine that, we would joke around all the time.”
“Then when I found out that it was true, I just went to my bedroom and stayed and Joe said he’d send the plane for me, the private plane and I just stayed in my room, I couldn’t believe it," Ms Presley revealed.
Elvis Presley died on the 16th of August 1977, he is still regarded as one of the most significant cultural figures of the 20th century.
