Office Floors Are Insulated in Old Mill in Lowell, Massachusetts

What an interesting job we had last week! We got to insulate the office floors of this old mill building in Lowell, Massachusetts. The floors were very cold as they were completely exposed to the water below.

This mill building was built in the mid-1800s and for more than 100 years, the bell called people to it on a daily basis to work. The sounds from the complex were that of machinery clanking and rumbling 10 to 14 hours a day. Rushing water ran water wheels and turbines, and bells constantly clanged to regulate life's daily activities.

Some mill buildings were called a "cathedral of industry" where people from all over the world toiled for the single purpose of mass-producing a consumer product: textiles.

The insulation Spray Foam Technicians used closed cell spray foam on this job. Closed cell spray foam reduces excess waste and energy consumption in buildings by up to 50% while adding strength, R-value (7 per inch), and greater resistance to the leakage of air and water vapor. It is a “perfect vapor barrier” in both summer and in winter.
