Challenger Point Via The Willow Lakes Trail - The Traveling Tacos - Climbing Colorado's 14ers

Challenger Peak is one of Colorado's prestigious "14ers" clocking in at over 14,080 feet!

The Traveling Tacos takes a group of girl friends up to Challenger Peak via the Willow Lakes trail one afternoon in July. It was her friends first times not only backpacking out to a campsite, but climbing up a 14er as well!

The weekend had its ups and downs, literally and metaphorically. Rain rolled through, soreness kicked in, and sickness knocked one of us out, but none of these down points out weighed the sheer awesomeness of the weekend.

From the trailhead it was 4.5 miles to Willow Lake and the views were incredible the entire time. The wildflowers were blooming and the creek was flowing, it was perfect. Then from the lake the next morning the hike to Challenger Point was 1.6 miles with almost 3,000 feet in elevation gain.
