AEMO's 'concerning' announcement shows 'failure to expand energy network'

The Australian’s Environment Editor Graham Lloyd discusses AEMO’s “concerning” predictions of power cuts across the country.

The AEMO has announced delays to green projects and the closure of traditional power sources could mean power shortages across the country.

“It’s certainly concerning news on a couple of levels,” Mr Lloyd told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“What the operator is saying is that the reliability margin is reducing the populous states of New South Wales and Victoria and also in South Australia.

“Probably the more concerning thing is … the flexibility in adding new supply is being constrained by failure to expand the network.”
