Ladakh is a region in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir that currently extends from the Kunlun mountain range to the main Great Himalayas to the south, inhabited by people of Indo-Aryan and Tibetan descent.
Kargil is a city in the Kargil district of Ladakh region, in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is the second largest town in Ladakh after Leh.

Kargil War Memorial, is a war memorial built by the Indian Army, located in Dras, in the foothills of the Tololing Hill. The memorial is located about 5 km from the city centre across the Tiger Hill.

Dras is a town in the Kargil District of Jammu and Kashmir, India on National Highway 1D NH 1D. It is often called 'The Gateway to Ladakh'.

Fotu La (Hindi: फ़ोतु ला) or Fatu La is a mountain pass on the Srinagar-Leh highway in the Himalayas Zaskar Range[1] in India.[2] At an elevation of 4,108 metres (13,478 ft), it is the highest point on the highway, surpassing the famed Zoji La.
Fotu La is one of two high mountain passes between Leh and Kargil, the other being Namika La.

Lamayuru or Yuru Monastery is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Lamayouro, Leh district, India. It is situated on the Srinagar-Leh highway 15 kilometres east of the Fotu La at a height of 3,510 metres.
