Gotham didn’t fall overnight. It was handed over.

In Batman 8, Poison Ivy and Vandal Savage tighten their grip on the city, transforming law, crime, and power into a system that no longer needs to hide its corruption. With the GCPD under Savage’s control and Gotham’s underworld unified, the rules have changed and Batman may already be too late to stop it.

This issue shifts focus to three key threads: Savage’s alliance with Mayor Ivy and the launch of Operation Peregrine, a dangerous new initiative aimed at dismantling vigilantism; a journalist and a whistleblower risking everything to expose the truth; and a very telling conversation between Batman and Alan Scott that reveals just how patient (and petty) Savage really is.

But beneath it all, the cracks are starting to show. Fires are spreading, tensions are rising, and Gotham is being pushed toward something far bigger. This may feel like a moment of calm but it’s only because the storm hasn’t hit yet.
