What The Hell Happened To Command And Conquer?

Real-time strategy games are a niche genre nowadays, limited outside of very big names such as the Starcraft series. One other major name in real-time strategy gaming is the Command and Conquer franchise, with its first release on PC back in 1995. It enjoyed a great deal of popularity and activity for some time afterwards, before entering a period of hibernation that saw a revival for the franchise for a few years, starting in 2007 and ending in 2012.

Command and Conquer finally saw a new release in last year's Command and Conquer Rivals, though as a free-to-play mobile game. However, in November 2018 it was announced that Command and Conquer and Command and Conquer: Red Alert are being remastered - as of July of this year, it is now in alpha stage. It will support resolution up to 4K, and is being worked on by Petroglyph Games, which contains staff from Westwood Studios - the development team on the original Command Conquer titles up to 2003, the same year at which the company would also end up going defunct. But with this great news of a remaster, let's take some time to gloss over the library of the Command and Conquer franchise.
