Blue egg is from the 2019 Easter event. Players got them by giving the legendary broken egg to Mr. Eggburt. Broken egg was found on top of the Sky Castle. Blue egg was originally the legendary white egg and named as "Egg - Very quiet..." It turned to "Egg - Changing Color..." few days before the big pet update in June 2019.

Remember, blue Egg is actually the first pet in Adopt Me, not cat, not giraffe, not starter egg or not any other pets. The egg is added to the game on April 20-21, 2019(depending on your time zone). Because it's the first pet, it is also the oldest pet in Adopt Me. So is the blue dog also the first and oldest pet since blue dog comes from blue egg? The answer is "No." You cannot hatch the egg until June 16, 2019. For that reason, blue dogs came to the game later than blue egg.

Let's talk about the pink egg. Players got their pink egg few days before the pet update in June 16, 2019. Don't get confused. I said "before." It means pink egg was available to get even before the other pets were introduced in June 16, 2019. I hope you understood that pink egg was already available in June 15 and earlier as June 14, 13, 12 and so on. Players got their pink egg by paying 100 AMC so they can use the time machine. They needed to use the time machine to talk to Sir Woofington which is needed in getting the pink egg. The 2nd oldest pet is the pink egg.

Why is blue egg more valuable than pink egg?
Blue egg is more valuable than pink egg since it is older and perceived to be rarer than pink egg. Also, it was easier to get pink egg than blue egg wherein you just need to pay 100 AMC, use the time machine and talk to Sir Woofington compared to blue egg wherein you need to find the broken egg and not all players put the effort in finding it and not all got the blue egg. Another thing, consider that everyday new players are joining the game.
There are less players in older days/months/years compared to present days/months/years. Since blue egg is older than pink egg expect that the number of players when the blue egg was added was lesser compared to the number of players when the pink egg was added.
This also explains why the blue is rarer than pink egg. You can also use that explanation when comparing old items to not so old items.

Why is blue dog more valuable than pink cat?
Since blue egg is older and rarer and blue dog comes from blue egg while pink cat comes from pink egg, blue dog is more valuable than pink cat. Also, the majority seems to favor dogs over cats not only in Adopt Me but in real life. Because the majority favors and prefers dogs over cats, the demands for dogs are higher than cats. The demands greatly affect the value of items. The higher the demand, the higher the value.

Some players think that since blue dog comes from blue egg, their value should be the same or at least very close. Same goes for pink cat and pink egg.
