Wounded Yugoslav Partisans at Sutjeska (1943)

Wounded fighters of the Second Dalmatian Brigade of the Yugoslav Partisans are seen during the Battle of Sutjeska in 1943, one of the most decisive and brutal engagements of World War II in the Balkans. Surrounded by Axis forces and facing overwhelming firepower, the Partisans endured extreme losses while protecting their wounded comrades. Despite suffering heavy casualties, their determination and sacrifice allowed a breakout from encirclement, ensuring the survival of the Partisan movement under Josip Broz Tito.
