Why Is the Strait of Gibraltar So Deep?

Building a bridge across the Strait of Gibraltar is tricky for several reasons. Firstly, the strait is a seismically active region, making construction and maintenance difficult. Secondly, the depth of the strait, which reaches over 900 meters in some parts, poses engineering challenges for building support structures. The strong tidal currents and unpredictable weather conditions in the area make construction hazardous and navigation challenging. Additionally, the strait is a critical maritime passage, and constructing a bridge might disrupt the natural flow of marine life and shipping routes.
