Heating a Tarp Teepee Using the G2- 5" Folding Firebox Stove - Teepee Winter Campout Part 3

In this video I use the G2- 5" Folding Firebox Stove to heat my tarp teepee and to cook/melt snow for meals. ****WARNING: Always carry a carbon monoxide detector just in case the teepees ventilation or airflow is compromised. NEVER close your door all the way and never block the top vent while using fire in the tipi because you cut off the airflow to your fire and deadly gasses could build up in the teepee. Please do your research before attempting to heat a shelter. Whether it's fire or propane they can be deadly if not well ventilated.****

I also show one way to set up the stove to work efficiently so smoke exits the top smoke vent instead of "smoking you out". With the stove burning and a pot on the top I was able to heat the inside of the teepee up to 38F while the outside temp had dropped to 18F. As the night progressed the temps outside dropped a couple more degrees but the teepee remained at about 34F while the stove was still burning. I kept the teepee door open a little bit more than was probably needed so I'm assuming that the inside temp could have been higher with the door closed more and no pot on the stove. I did put the stove out when I went to bed for the night for safety because I didn't pack in my carbon monoxide detector. Also, you would be up all night feeding a small fire.

This teepee is designed as a bare bones backpacking shelter. I do a lot of 15 to 20 miles hikes and wanted to try out a large teepee setup that was still practical for my uses. This version weights in at 3 lbs.

I am not a campfire expert. I'm just starting to learn Bushcraft and this was a test for me and a big learning experience. Please take the necessary precautions when using a fire in a shelter and NEVER leave it unattended. In this video I show how to easily cover the top of the teepee with a 55 gallon garbage bag to weather proof your teepee from heavy rain or snow or just to hold in heat while using a tent heater/propane tent heater. Next, I show how to install a ceiling in the teepee that serves to close off the unused gap inside the top of your teepee to conserve heat. It can also be used as a gear loft or rain catch. To stake down the teepee in snow I show how to make some easy Deadman Anchors for when the ground is frozen and you have plenty of snow.

Easy step by step instructions on how to build an affordable teepee from a $25 (10x20 ft.) Ozark Trails Wal-Mart camo tarp. After spending the last couple winters cold and cramped in tarps and tents I decided to try a heated Teepee. Teepees are huge and spacious and designed to be used with a small fire in the middle or in my case a small wood stove, the G2-5" Folding Firebox Stove which makes it the perfect 4 season camping/backpacking shelter.

Stay tuned for more Teepee winter campout videos as I will be using this shelter a lot this winter for its spacious design and heated luxury. Peace out!
