The United States intelligence community has made it clear: Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election and has plans to do it again in the future, including this year’s midterms. And beyond that, Putin has invaded and occupied neighboring countries, inserted Russia into Middle East conflicts, and started holding military exercises with China. But for all the media hype, does Russia pose a true threat to the U.S.? Or is Russia just a marginal power with an economy that’s been beset by sanctions?
