Filming from the heart of the swan nest, I got incredible footage of the swan cygnets as they ventured on their first swims.

I built my hide right next to a swan nest so that I could film the swan family from below. I had to swim to get to my hide, but once there I could film into the heart of the nest using a probe lens and capture the cygnets' first moments. One had only just hatched, it's feather's still damp.

The female swan was just inches from the end of my lens as I filmed her turning her eggs to keep them evenly warm. And then I caught the special moment the boldest, and oldest, of the swan cygnets followed her into the water for their first ever swims.
