Watercolor Lightfast Test for Arteza, Daniel Smith, Pretty Excellent, Sakura Koi, and White Nights

🎨 I tested the lightfastness of watercolor paints from five brands for four months in a sunny Midwestern window. Paints included both artists' grade and student grade. These are my results for Arteza, Daniel Smith, Mei Liang Pretty Excellent, Sakura Koi, and White Nights.

My conclusions are that Arteza and Sakura Koi had the lowest lightfastness, with 5 of 24 (21%) of each of those brands showing some fading and/or color shift. Mei Liang Pretty Excellent did fairly wall with only 4 of 36 (11%) failing (vermillion, alizarin crimson, mauve, and doxazine violet). For Daniel Smith, I was only able to test seven colors, and only one *barely* changed. And, White Nights did perfectly, though that's probably because I made a custom palette with only the highest rated lightfast pigments from their line.
