The Wildlife Express at Animal Kingdom 2024

After exploring the savanna on the Kilimanjaro Safari we take a ride on the Eastern Star Railway's Wildlife Express from the port town of Harambe to the Conservation Station.

The Wildlife Express is a 3 foot gauge railway in Animal Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida. It transports guests through the backstage areas between the Africa land and the Conservation Station behind a fleet of fake 2-4-2Ts built for the park by Severn Lamb. The engines are based of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Class 5s and have been extensively weathered to appear as if they've been running for many decades in post-colonial East Africa on the fictitious Eastern Star Railway. In this video we see locomotives 04982 and 00174. They may not be real steam engines but they are excellent models and I would recommend any railfans visiting Disney World to catch a ride on this little railway.
