Making a resin keepsake with dried Valentines /Wedding Bouquet/ Roses. Tutorial.

#DriedFlowersInResin#KeepsakePyramidTutorial#ResinKeepsakePyramid
Hi all, This video is not just for Valentines roses but for anyone who wants to make a keepsake of fresh flowers from any special occasion. If you follow my method you will get crystal clear results with minimal bubbles. To save time here I have already prepared the resin in this video. I have another video on my channel that covers how I do it in detail. There's a link to it at the 6minute 50seconds mark. Even so, this is a long video as I wanted to show the whole process from start to finish. To save time I have sped up the footage wherever I could. If you just want to see how I dry the flowers then skip to 1 minute 52 seconds in.
If you are interested in the resin stage then please skip to 6 minutes 16 seconds.
The problem with real flowers is that they have too much moisture to be put directly into resin. Any flower has to be dried thoroughly, either by hanging upside down for a long time, or by placing it in silica crystals as I have done. Even small flowers will take a week but bigger blooms like a rose needs to dry for at least 3 weeks before going in resin. Another problem is that they give off gas as they cure in resin and this causes little bubbles. I try to overcome this by dipping and coating the flowers in clear resin to seal them. Lastly resin sometimes reacts and can change the colours of a flower to a less than desirable shade. I was lucky that the rose I used was just made darker and my yellow dahlia went a lovely shade of orange but It's difficult to predict what colour change may occur.
For this project I used a small pyramid mould that's around 4.5 inches square. It used a total of about 200 grams of resin, which must be the type suitable for deep casting.
I really love how mine turned out and for anyone looking to save some flowers forever I hope you will find my video helpful.
