10. Pearl Shoal Waterfall, China
The Pearl Shoal Waterfall in China can be found in the Jiuzhaigou (jiu zai goo) nature reserve in the northwest of the Sichuan Province. It’s a part of one of the tributaries of the Bailong river and is at an altitude of 7,982 feet. While it’s far from the tallest waterfall on this countdown, with a fall of 130 feet and a width of 533 feet, it’s definitely one of the most spectacular.

9. Kaieteur Falls, Guyana
The Kaieteur Falls, in Guyana’s Kaieteur National park, is the world’s largest permanent single drop waterfall. The water, from the Potaro River, falls 741 feet over a sandstone cliff to its first break and then continues a further 81 feet over a series of steep cascades.

8. Dettifoss, Iceland
The Vatnajökull national park in Iceland covers the area of the entire Vatnajökull glacier and a large region of the surrounding countryside. It's full of a wide variety of geological features, such as rivers, glacial ice, volcanic activity, and geothermal activity. One of the most stunning places, though, is Dettifoss- thought to be the most powerful waterfall in Europe.

7. Sutherland Falls, New Zealand
The Sutherland Falls is about 14 miles to the famous Milford Sound glacier in New Zealand, and are one of the highest falls in the world at 1,904 feet. The water comes from the nearby Lake Quill, and falls in three cascades… the first being 751 feet, then a drop of 814 feet, and the final one of 338 feet.

6. Bigar Falls, Romania
This stunning waterfall is called Bigar Falls and is in Romania's Cheile Nerei national park. Fed by an underground spring, the water cascades over a rounded mossy rock and cliff edge and drops 26 feet to the Minis River below. Apart from looking like a place direct from the Lord of the Rings, there’s a lot that’s unusual about this waterfall.

5. Plitvice Waterfalls, Croatia
The Plitvice Lakes National park is one of the largest parks in Croatia, covering an area of 73,350 acres. In 1979 the region was added to the UNESCO world heritage register, and it’s clear to see why. In total, 16 different lakes can be seen at the surface, each of which is varying colors and are connected to each other.

4. Niagara Falls, Canada/USA
Niagara Falls, on the border between Canada and the USA, is undoubtedly one of the most famous and most photographed, waterfall systems in the world. There are three waterfalls here, the Horseshoe Falls, the American Falls, and the Bridal Veil Falls.

3. Victoria Falls, Zambia/Zimbabwe
The Victoria Falls are often said to be the largest falls in the world, despite being neither the tallest nor the widest. Located on the Zambezi river, on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, it's 354 feet tall, and 5,604 feet wide- that's more than twice the height of the Niagara Falls, and twice the width of the Horseshoe Falls.

2. Iguazú Falls, Argentina/Brazil
On the border of Argentina and Brazil, the Iguazu river divides into two- and, in the process, has formed the largest waterfall system in the world. The Iguazu falls consist of 275 different waterfalls in an area about 2 miles wide and sees about 35,000 cubic feet of water passing per second.

1. Baatara Gorge Falls, Lebanon
This final waterfall isn’t the biggest or most powerful, but it’s one of the most spectacular waterfalls you’ll see anywhere in the world. So I’ve heard!! Known as Baatara Gorge Falls, or the ‘Three Bridge Chasm’, and located in Tannourine, Lebanon… these falls have slowly carved themselves into the limestone over millions of years.
