Why Pakistani Developers Who Know They Are Being Underpaid Still Do Not Go Direct to the Client

Ali is the developer. He logs in every day as Matthew Hayden. His work is generating $20,000. He knows it. His company knows it. And he is getting a salary that is a fraction of that number.

So why does he not go directly to the client? Why does he not say: this work is mine, I am the one doing it, deal with me directly?

Two reasons. And both of them are more honest than most people want to admit.

First: not everyone is an entrepreneur. Knowing the business formula does not mean you are built to execute it. Some people have an employee mindset and that is not a weakness. It is just a reality. Not every developer wants to close clients, manage relationships, and figure out lead generation. They want to do the work and get paid for it.

Second: there is a secret sauce to finding and closing international clients that most developers genuinely do not have access to. And even when someone starts to figure it out, executing it is a completely different challenge.

This is the trap. You know your work is worth more. But the path from knowing that to actually capturing that value is harder than it looks from the inside.
