SOLIDWORKS Electrical Tip: Export Harness Reports to Excel for Production #shorts
Electrical harness documentation doesn’t have to stay locked inside your design software.
In SOLIDWORKS Electrical, engineers can export harness data directly to Microsoft Excel, making it easier for manufacturing and purchasing teams to work with the information.
Once exported, the Excel file can be used for tasks such as:
• Checking wiring connections during harness assembly
• Verifying wire routing between connectors
• Creating material lists for purchasing
• Sharing documentation with production teams
Because the report is generated directly from the electrical schematic and part selections, the exported data reflects the actual design.
This allows engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to work from the same source of information.
Using Excel also provides flexibility for teams that want to sort, filter, or extend the data for their own workflows.
At GSC, we work alongside engineering teams to help them apply SOLIDWORKS and SOLIDWORKS Electrical more effectively in real production environments.
Our role goes beyond providing software - we help teams improve workflows and engineering productivity.
We regularly host free educational sessions where we share practical SOLIDWORKS Electrical workflows like this.
