Amtrak's Empire Builder Day 3 Grand Forks to Chicago

On Day 3 (12 September 2011) the sun rises over Minnesota farmland but soon we reach St Paul - Minneapolis. From there we travel along the banks of the Mississippi River to La Crosse. Then we pass through the Wisconsin agricultural area stopping at several towns including Tomah and Wisconsin Dells before arriving in Milwaukee. From Milwaukee the area becomes increasingly urbanized as we stop at Glenview and then pass the Metra Maintenance Facility at Western Avenue. Finally we run alongside the North Branch of the Chicago River and arrive at Union Station on time. We also see the next day's Empire Builder passing the Chicago River.
