Woman’s lover found not guilty of murdering her husband

Hanif Forbes, 41, cried on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 after being found not guilty of the January 2022 murder of the husband of a woman with whom he had been having a sexual relationship.

A 12-member jury deliberated for just over two hours before returning not guilty verdicts.

The crown had alleged that Forbes, a resident of Spring Village, Georgetown shot and killed Joshua “Cabbage” Pompey of O’Brien’s Valley another Georgetown community, sometime after he punched Pompey’s wife, Lekeitha Harris-Pompey in the face on the night of Jan. 21, 2022.

Pompey, a 47-year-old truck driver who was originally of Lowmans Windward, was felled by a single gunshot wound to the head inside his vehicle.

His 34-year-old wife, who is also known as “Lick Shot”, told police that Forbes, who was her lover even before she married Pompey, was the killer.

At the trial, Forbes’ lawyer, Ronald “Ronny” Marks, posited a theory that Harris-Pompey had arranged the murder of her abusive husband and attempted to pin it on her lover.

Marks noted that Pompey was not the first of Harris-Pompey’s partners to be shot and killed.
