Repolling At Bengal Booths If Reports Of EVM Button Taping Verified: EC After Falta Row

The West Bengal Chief Electoral Officer has said repolling will be ordered in any booth where Electronic Voting Machine buttons are found to be tampered with, following allegations from Falta in the Diamond Harbour constituency. The statement came after the Bharatiya Janata Party claimed voters were unable to select its candidate in some booths during polling. BJP leader Amit Malviya alleged that the party’s option on EVMs was blocked using tape and demanded repolling. He described the issue as part of a pattern. In Diamond Harbour, BJP candidate Dipak Kumar Halder is contesting against Trinamool Congress MLA Panna Lal Halder, who had won the previous election.
