Difference between Small scale & cottage Industries:
1) Cottage and village industreis are mostly located primarily in the rural areas, whereas small scale industries are mostly located in the urban and semi-urban areas.

2) The production technique in cottage and village industries is normally traditional and involve operations mostly by hand which are carried on primarily with the help of the members of the family. The use of electric power, machines and outside labour is found to a very limited extent only. The small-scale industries, on the other hand, use mechanised equipment, employ outside labour and they adopt some division of labour and specialisation.

3) The cottage and village industries obtain their requirements of raw materials and other things mostly from the local market and also sell their products mainly in the local market. On the other hand, small-scale industries get their raw materials not only from the local market but from the national and international markets also. Likewise, these industries sell their products in the national and international markets as well.

4) Cottage and village industries mainly provide subsidiary or partial employment, while small scale industries provide full time employment.
