Sacramento County moves forward with budget that includes some public safety cuts

A divided Sacramento County Board of Supervisors vote is drawing new attention to public safety funding ahead of final budget adoption. Supervisors approved moving forward with a proposed $9 billion spending plan that restored approximately $9.9 million to public safety agencies, including the Sheriff's Office, District Attorney's Office and Public Defender's Office. However, the plan still includes reductions of $5.9 million for the Sheriff's Office, $2.7 million for the District Attorney's Office and $2.2 million for the Probation Department.
