Establishing shot:
Empty popcorn bowl. Microwave sound and then close-up of one popped popcorn. Then the bowl is suddenly full and overflowing with popcorn.
MOTHER
Ad lib, then, what shall we watch tonight?
SON
Hogan's Heroes any time for me.
MOTHER
What about a real movie on DVD or Blue-ray?
SON
Not Barry Lyndon.
Camera pans shelves and boxes of movies throughout clip.
MOTHER
How about Demetrius and the Gladiators?
Camera on Victor Mature movies.
SON
That guy's way tough with a sword, gun or wrestling big cats. No wonder he always got the chicks.
MOTHER
(singing)
Marina ... Aquamarina
SON
Oh, God. Not that .... This.
MOTHER
You've seen Twister 5000 times. It's got the F bomb, you know.
SON
Haven't you heard it before?
SON
We have too many movies.
MOTHER
These ones just arrived.
MOTHER & SON
Ad lib and laughing.
SON
You and dad've seen these at the theatre or on TV. Do we have to? I'd rather play Rocket League.
MOTHER
Nope. House rules. Supper together as a family watching a movie or TV series – unless we have to find out what today's politics is on the news.
SON
How 'bout one of those HGTV cooking or home reno shows. I like Home Town - “Come on in.”
MOTHER
How 'bout one of these?
SON
No.
SON
This one, dad's favourite.
MOTHER
Great idea.
SON
“You better write that down.” We're good for supper for a couple of weeks now.
MOTHER
K ... oh, and as the detective also says ... “one more thing.”
SON
What?
MOTHER
You are making supper tonight.
