A quick tour of RadioDJ for our volunteers

We rely extensively on RadioDJ. It's easily the best of the free radio automation programs. It's incredibly stable and runs for months at a time. Has a very clean interface and its use can be taught to others quickly. (Rivendell has more features, but they're ones we generally wouldn't need and the learning curve for it is horrible.)

We tried many free (Rivendell, Competa Playout, Playit Live, Radionomy) and paid (Station Playlist & Sam Broadcaster) programs. RadioDJ worked the best for our needs, was the easiest to learn to use, very powerful, and extremely stable. The worst of the programs we tried was a paid one, Sam Broadcaster -- rare to see something that expensive crash that often and that badly. We strongly recommend everyone runs screaming in the other direction from that last one as there are many better options, all free.
