How To Upgrade the RAM on iMac (2012-2020)?

Turn off your iMac

Place a soft towel on a flat surface to protect the display

Disconnect the power cord and all other cables.

Locate the RAM access door on the back of your iMac.

Open the memory compartment door by pressing the small grey button located just above the AC power port

Push the two levers outward to release the memory cage

Replace or install RAM module into the slot, making sure it is oriented correctly.

push both memory cage levers back into the housing until they lock into place

Replace the RAM access door.

Reconnect all cables and turn on your iMac.
