How to Create a Post in WordPress – Step-by-Step Guide

Creating a post in WordPress is easy and powerful. Whether you're writing in Bangla or English, WordPress allows you to publish content professionally. Follow these steps to create a post:

1. Log in to Your WordPress Dashboard
First, you need to access your WordPress admin panel. Go to:
yourwebsite.com/wp-admin
Enter your username and password, and click Log In. You’ll be directed to the dashboard where you can manage your site.

2. Go to the “Posts” Section
In the left-hand menu, hover over or click “Posts.” Then click on “Add New.” This will open the WordPress post editor.

3. Add a Title
At the top of the editor, you'll see a field that says “Add Title.” This is the title of your blog post. Write a clear and short title in either Bangla or English, depending on your audience.

Example:

“My First WordPress Post”

“ওয়ার্ডপ্রেসে আমার প্রথম পোস্ট”

4. Write Your Content
Below the title, you’ll find the content area. This is where you write your post.

You can:

Type directly into the editor

Copy-paste text from MS Word

Format your text (bold, italic, bullets, etc.)

Add headings (H2, H3 for sections)

Insert links, images, and videos

To insert a new paragraph or block, just press Enter.

5. Format Your Post
WordPress uses blocks (called Gutenberg editor). Each paragraph, image, or list is a separate block.

Common blocks:

Paragraph – for normal text

Heading – for section titles

Image – to insert a photo

List – for bullet points

To add a block, click the “+” button on the top-left or in the editor area.

6. Add Categories and Tags
On the right sidebar:

Categories: Group similar posts. Example: “Blog,” “Tutorials,” “News”

Tags: Keywords related to your post. Example: “WordPress,” “How to post”

This helps users and search engines find your content.

7. Add a Featured Image (Optional)
Still on the right sidebar, click “Featured Image” and upload or select an image from the media library. This image shows as a thumbnail on the blog list page.

8. Preview Your Post
Click “Preview” on the top-right to see how your post will look on the website before publishing.

9. Publish Your Post
If everything looks good, click the blue “Publish” button. WordPress will ask for confirmation—click Publish again.
