It is the responsibility of the hearing officer to conduct the hearing in a manner that ensures there will be an accurate record leading to a decision that is fair, accurate, and supported by law. The module also provides guidance as to when a hearing officer may need to recuse themself from the proceedings due to a possible conflict of interest.
